funky leaf! what kind?

I'm fairly certain this is an American sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua) [link] who's leaf is a five pointed star shape.
I believe the appearance is due to the angle and the fact that the leaves are curled from the long dry spell we had here at the time.
